Hi, I’m Abby! I’m a partially deaf college student who has a passion for personal stories because I spent years too nervous to share mine 🙂
As a fifth grader, I bought into the lie that people wouldn’t want to be my friend if they knew that I had hearing loss and didn’t have a right ear. I didn’t wear ponytails for fun all the way from fifth grade to the summer before college, and I rarely shared my personal testimony. I knew that I was fearfully and wonderfully made by God, but since I didn’t think people would see me that way, I hid my differences from my friends.
The Lord has called me multiple times to live life with my hair back, and I finally obeyed in Summer 2016. I actually had to go to Walmart and buy bobby pins and hair ties because I literally didn’t own any. That summer launched a whirlwind journey where God’s faithfulness has been lavished time and time again upon my life.
Everyone has a story, but I believe there are effective and ineffective ways to tell that story. When we discover how to confidently and effectively share our personal stories and testimonies, we unlock a world of communication that allows us to connect with one another on a deeper level and share the Gospel as well! My hope is that by sharing my story to my world I can encourage you to share your story to your world as well.
